Started as the management arm of a community-based cy¬cling, running and multi-sport initiative, Redbud Sports has evolved to become an integrated sports management and event production company that has, since 2004, fielded the most competitive elite bike racing teams from the State of Texas and promoted the biggest and best bike racing events in the southwestern region. During the same pe¬riod, Redbud Sports has provided events and programs for the development of junior cyclists, runners and multi-sport athletes and introduced non-racers of all ages and abilities to the pleasures and benefits of incorporating these sports into their lives.

In early 2004, Barry Lee and Will Ross partnered with Liz Lambert, owner of Austin’s Hotel San José, to launch Team Hotel San José. The mission was threefold: (1) provide a well-funded and well-coached platform to field a team of elite men and women cyclists and multi-sport athletes to be competitive in local, regional and national events, (2) provide opportunities for and develop junior athletes and (3) promote active lifestyles in the community. Six years later, with continuing support from Hotel San José, and numerous other businesses and individuals, Team Hotel San José continues to exceed its original goals by carrying its mission outside Austin and Texas and by consistently sending athletes to compete at the highest levels. Team Hotel San José and its members have won numerous state and national championship events in both cycling and triathlon, competed in international and world championship events and distinguished itself through consistent displays of professionalism and good sportsmanship.

Perhaps more impressive than the team’s racing success is our commitment to the community to provide a positive outlet for athletes of all ages and abilities. Our programs have included a weekly crit series in Austin, spin classes for the Texas School for the Deaf and the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, regular “no-drop” community training rides and more than 75,000 volunteer hours working with Austin Parks and Recreation kids.
