
Stefan Rothe
Stefan was born and grew up in Dresden, Germany, where he started competitive cycling in 1992 as a 11-year old – inspired by watching the Barcelona Olympic Games that year.. Under the guidance of his former coaches, Stefan developed quickly into a good junior and U23 racer. He competed in Junior World Cup races around Europe, got to experience the cobbles in Belgium and Netherlands, and climbed the mountains in the Austrian and Switzer Alps in UCI stage races as an U23 racer.
After a year of studying Sports Science and Latin America Studies at the University ofBielefeld, Stefan accepted a cycling scholarship from Midwestern State University (MSU) inWichita Falls, TX, in order to continue his education and race on the collegiate level. Just two years later, in 2005, he received a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and entered the Graduate Program in the same department at MSU.
Stefan brings a lot of international experience with him, having raced and doing training camps in more than 15 countries and on 4 continents. Currently, he is a member of Team Hotel San Jose pb GaryFisher/Subaru and competes in Texas, regional, and select National Racing Calendar (NRC) races throughout the year.
