Carlos Vargas

Carlos was born in Columbia and started riding bikes at younger than he can remember. It was a way of transportation in South America and he soon was exposed to racing and competive training like many kids from Columbia. He excelled as a climber and strong finisher. He was a motivated and passionate young cyclists with dreams of gold medals and Olympic podiums. Vargas continued to improve and started racing more internationally as gained wins in all types of racing conditions.

He started racing with Team Hotel San Jose first as an 18 year old on United Youth Sports, which later became Team Hotel San Jose/ Mellow Johnny’s. He later raced for Saturn Developemtal team climbing his way to the top cat 1 at Tour of the Gila in New Mexico. He then raced with Endevour and then pro for Monex before coming back to Hotel San Jose

He has won the Texas State overall points TXBRA Pro Mens Championship, 3rd overall mutliple times at the International SuperWeek, top 3 at 2009 USA CRITS SPEEDWEEK in southern US, and is the current Texas State Crit Champion. He is an tough all arounder and does well at longer stage races and series such as SpeedWeek and SuperWeek.
